State-Wise Winter Vacation Updates for Schools in India January 2024

New Delhi- With winter reaching its peak in January, school break schedules across India are being adjusted to accommodate the harsh weather conditions. This article provides an updated overview of ongoing winter holidays and potential extensions in various states.

Delhi: Winter vacation in Delhi has been extended until January 12, 2024, for students from Nursery to 5th grade. This decision was made by School Education Minister Atishi based on the ongoing cold wave and yellow alerts issued by the IMD.

Jammu: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwat Mann announced a week-long extension of winter vacations for all government and private schools in the state, from January 8 to 14, 2024. The revised schedule applies to students from Nursery to 10th grade, while higher secondary students (Classes 11 and 12) will have shortened school days from 10 am to 3 pm.

Punjab: While an anticipated extension of the scheduled December 14-31, 2023, winter break did not materialize, schools in Punjab are implementing reduced hours from January 1 to 14, 2024. Classes for all grades will now run from 10.00 AM to 3.00 PM.

Noida: Schools in Noida have been closed for students from Classes 1 to 8 until January 14, 2024, due to the severe cold wave. Classes for students in Grades 9 to 12, however, will operate with adjusted timings of 10.00 AM to 3.00 PM.

Further Updates: Parents and students are advised to stay updated on any further changes or updates related to school winter holidays by contacting their respective school administration or checking official government websites.
